God felt the world was finally ready for Skyler Ashley because on October 5th of 1988 He breathed life into Skyler. Around age 2, Skyler and his single mother moved to the suburbs of Atlanta, otherwise known as Hotlanta, Georgia. Skyler adapted a quick appreciation for waffle houses, which were conveniently located on nearly every corner. It was in this house that Skyler and his mom moved to where Skyler was introduced to his first Nintendo, which would eventually spur a hobby of video gaming that would come between him and sleep. Video games may have also taken away from academics to a certain extent, but never before athletics. Skyler became heavily envovled with sports, soccer and basketball were his passions.
Skyler's mom met and married Mark Baier while in Georgia. Skyler met his step brother and step sister and learned to love them very quickly. With that, Skyler also realized that this was the end of him being overly spoiled. Being the only child was enjoyable but Skyler felt that giving up toys would be better than being lonely.
After 8 or so years in the south, Skyler and his family moved back to Bloomington. State Farm has their ways of enticing their employees, but the move was also about being closer to family. It was shortly after the move that Calvary became Skyler's family's church home. Spiritual growth was evident in the following years for the entire family. Skyler's parents became involved with bible studies at the church, eventually even Stephen Ministry. Through their growing knowledge, faith, and truth, Skyler picked up bits and pieces here and there. Skyler had considered himself a Christian his entire life but realized somewhere in his early high school years that it was time to start demonstrating Jesus' love instead of just talking about it. He became heavily involved with Michael Pitzer's youth group and eventually found himself attending every Sunday School and Workcamp. As if Sunday mornings weren’t enough lecture from the mouth of Michael Pitzer, he offers a Wednesday night lecture called Wild at Heart and Skyler looked forward to every single one of them.
Skyler is now a young man, with many God given gifts and abilities that he is excited about using to glorify God's kingdom. At the overwhelming age of 19, Skyler has a big heart, a strong vision for the youth, and a burning passion for God. Skyler is currently enrolled at Heartland Community college, majoring in Psychology with the goal to become a counselor at some point. He is very excited about taking on this roll in the church and is very appreciative for the opportunity to reveal God's grace and truth to the youth.
