Dr. Perry came to Calvary in the summer of 1999. He is originally from Macomb, Illinois and received his undergraduate degree from Iowa Wesleyan University. While at Iowa Wesleyan he had a student pastorate at the United Methodist Church in Nauvoo. Dr. Perry went onto Duke University where he received his Masters of Divinity. His time at Duke helped foster a love for Coach K and Duke Basketball that remains today. He then went on to to earn his Doctorate at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Perry's favorite part of serving at Calvary is the opportunity to work with all of the wonderful people here. When asked where he saw the church in the future, Dr. Perry said “Calvary will continue to develop as a “lampstand” church to reach more and more people for Jesus Christ.” This is echoed by his favorite piece of Scripture, Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
In his free time Dr. Perry enjoys sketching, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his wife Kandi and three children; Rachel, Rebecca and Nathan. |
