Dr. Randy Perry is the Directing Pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church in Normal, Illinois. Originally hailing from Macomb, Illinois, he received his undergraduate degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. Pastor Randy went on to Duke University where he received his Master of Divinity Degree and then earned his Doctorate at Vanderbilt University.
Pastor Randy was appointed to Calvary in the summer of 1999. Before coming to Calvary he served numerous other churches in Illinois. Today, at least one member from each of his previous congregations attends Calvary.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the Preacher's Aid Society and Benefit Fund of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and the BroMenn Physicians Management Corporation. Randy is also a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees for Iowa Wesleyan College, his alma mater.
Under his tenure at Calvary, the congregation has nearly doubled in size. When asked where he saw the church in the future, Randy said “Calvary will continue to develop as a “lampstand” church to reach more and more people for Jesus Christ.” This is echoed by his favorite piece of Scripture, Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
In his free time Dr. Perry enjoys sketching, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, cheering on Duke basketball and spending time with his wife Kandi and three children; Rachel, Rebecca and Nathan.
