The Calvary family has outdone themselves in generosity. During November and the beginning of December, 1,730 stuffed animals were collected for Father Beiting’s Appalachian Mission Project. These stuffed animals will be given to less fortunate children in the Appalachia area for Christmas presents.
Sharon Lawlis, a Calvary member and coordinator of the stuffed animal drive, said “For some of your children this was difficult, yet they gave. On Christmas day, may you all have a feeling of love and warmth as you think of children who are blessed that day with the special gifts we collected.”
Each Christmas the Appalachian Mission Project provides more than 10,000 food and gift baskets to the residents in and around Louisa, KY. Louisa is located deep in the heart of economically depressed Appalachia. The Appalachian Mission Project which was founded more than 50 years ago by Father Beiting, a Catholic Priest.
