UMW To Meet

 

UMW will meet at the church on Monday, January 7, at 10 a.m.  Nancy Littell will lead the program on the Call to Prayer and Self Denial.  UMW is the world-wide organization of the women of the United Methodist Church.

United Methodist Women is a service organization under the Board of Global Ministries.  It has founded and maintains schools and hospeitals, homes for children and people of all ages, and agencies that work to alleviate disaster, poverty and injustice.  Our unit has especial interest in Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana and the Lessie Bates Neighborhood House serving the needs of people of all ages in East St. Louis, Mo.  It helped care for scores of refugees from the Katrina disaster.

The stated purpose of UMW:  The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to defelop a creative, supportive fellwship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
