“We begin to see, therefore, the importance of selecting our environment with the greatest of care, because environment is the mental feeding ground out of which the food that goes
into our minds is extracted.” - Napoleon Hill
We had an interesting meeting last week. Our task is still to determine Calvary’s space needs and then what to build to accommodate those needs. Well be reviewing the Facilities Planning Ad Hoc Committee report from mid-2006 to see what recommendations are there that might help with our work. The staff and our new Managing Director, Jan Godbey, are also looking at this report for ideas to help with our space crunch in certain areas.
And, that is where you can be of great help. A series of Fireside Chats are scheduled and it would be wonderful to have you all participate in those. This is the plan.
Part of the reason for these informal Fireside Chats is to introduce the Managing Director to all of us and to introduce all of us to her. The other reason for these gatherings is to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on the future of Calvary and where God is leading us. What you have to say will be used to help clarify Calvary’s vision. And, as that vision is defined, it will directly affect planning for the building and, of course, many other areas as well.
Here’s the thing. Everyone has a chance to be heard and we need to hear what everyone is thinking. New member? Great – your perceptions as someone new will be different from those of someone who has been here for a while, but both views are necessary. Young? Old? Inbetween? All of you have unique experiences and perspectives that are valuable here. So, please say “yes” to attending one of these “chats,” meet someone you might not know, and participate in some casual discussion about Calvary’s future.
Building Committee meets again on May 18 and we’ll have lots to learn from all of you. Thanks for checking in here today and for helping with the planning ahead.
