Calvary takes protection of our children very seriously. It is our mission to provide the safest environment possible for children so that the focus may be on ministry and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
All volunteers working with children and youth under the age of 18 are required to complete Calvary’s Child Protection Training. This includes Sunday School teachers, mid-week volunteers, van drivers; literally everyone that comes in contact with children must take this training. All employees of Calvary United Methodist Church are also required to take Child Protection Training.
The Children Protection Policy was updated over the summer of 2007. The updated version is currently being used with much success. In addition to completing the training, all participants are also required to successfully complete a background check with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and through LexisNexis. Calvary is also a proud user of Safe Sanctuaries.
All current volunteers have completed Calvary’s Child Protection Training. Courses of Calvary’s new Child Protection Training are continuously being held.
