Prayer Ministry
Prayer is a powerful, direct connection with God. Calvary provides numerous opportunities for connection through prayer.

Partners in Healing
Each month Calvary partners with BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal to pray for a specific need or department at the medical center. The current prayer focus can be found in the Sunday Worship Folder.

Prayers With the Pastors
Each Sunday morning before the start of worship, designated people gather in the Directing Pastor's office to pray for the coming Sunday activities. To be placed on the schedule for weekly prayer contact Doretta Irwin (dorettai(at)cumcnormal.org) in the Church Office.

Prayer Walkers
During all three morning worship services on Sunday, prayer walkers process through the halls of the church praying for those in worship, teachers, children, youth and volunteers. It is a powerful experience and a blessed time for the volunteer prayer walking that hour. To become a prayer walker contact Doretta Irwin (dorettai(at)cumcnormal.org) in the Church Office.

Prayer Vigil
At least once a year Calvary conducts a prayer vigil over the course of several days. In the past the Calvary Youth have taken the lead on organizing this. The Youth Room is traditionally blocked off and remains open 24 hours a day for people to come and express themselves through prayer, worship and art. For more information contact Michael Pitzer (michaelpitzer(at)cumcnormal.org).

E-mail Prayer Chain
For immediate prayer needs, Calvary offers an e-mail prayer chain sent out to dedicated prayer partners several times a day. To submit an item for the Prayer Chain call or e-mail (calvary(at)cumcnormal.org) the Church Office.

Monthly Prayer Labyrinth
Calvary offers a prayer labyrinth once a month and one special occasions. The labyrinth is a modification of the labyrinth laid in stone on the floor of France’s Chartres Cathedral around 1201 A.D. This ancient design is used as a walking path for prayer and meditation.

It is not a maze. There are no wrong turns or dead ends. Rather, the winding path, in a series of twists and turns, leads to the center and back out. This path can be a metaphor for one’s like and spiritual journey. It is an opportunity to slow down and to listen for the still, small voice of God.
