Communion at Calvary

What is Communion?
Holy Communion, sometimes called "The Lord's Supper" or "Holy Eucharist" is a time to remember the sacrifice and grace of Jesus Christ. We affirm the real presence of Jesus in Communion and believe that it is a time to remember Jesus’ death. Together the congregation shares in bread (symbolizing His body crucified on the cross) and juice (symbolizing His blood shed for humanity) just as Jesus did with His disciples on Maundy Thursday.

All Are Welcome
The United Methodist Church practices open communion. This means that all are welcome at the table, you need not be a member of Calvary or a United Methodist to receive communion.

Communion Schedule
Communion is served at all three services the first Sunday of each month. At the appointed time, the pastor will give instructions to the congregation and ushers will dismiss rows to come forward to share in the bread and cup.

The Bread and Cup
Calvary uses Country White Bread by Brownberry for communion. The cup contains Welch's Grape Juice. Because Christ’s invitation is given to all, we are pleased to offer a gluten-free Communion bread alternative for those with gluten intolerance.  It can be found in a cup in each bread tray.
